to overview

BayWa r.e. has been successful in securing three new projects of almost 70 MW in the latest round of auctions held as part of the Italian Government’s incentive scheme

BayWa r.e. has been successful in securing three new projects totalling almost 70 MW following the latest round of auctions held as part of the Italian Government’s incentive scheme.

The three projects BayWa r.e. will develop include the 48 MW Eolica San Lupo Srl project in Campania, the 10 MW Arlena Energy Srl project, and 8 MW Tessennano Energy Srl project, both located in Lazio.

Lorenzo Palombi, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Italia Srl, comments: “We’ve recently constructed around 90 MW of wind energy projects in Italy and are delighted to consolidate our position as a major market player with three projects, totalling almost 70 MW, secured in the recent auction. The key to our success is BayWa r.e’s ability to provide comprehensive and competitive end-to-end solutions, that encompass project financing, development, construction and ongoing operations and maintenance.”

The auctions were held under the new Italian Ministerial decree (the ‘New FER Decree’) for incentives for renewables sources other than photovoltaic which came into effect in June 2016.

Matthias Taft, Board Member of BayWa AG with responsibility for the energy business, adds: “Driven by EU directives, the auction system for developing renewable energy projects will become increasingly common. Our success in Italy highlights the resources, expertise and skills a global company like BayWa r.e. is able to offer and the value placed upon this by the market when considering the right development partner.”
