  • Logistics Centre

    BayWa r.e. has been installing a solar PV installation with a power of 730 kWp on the roof-top of a logistics centre, saving around 371 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

    The expected yearly production of the plant is around 863,000 kWh by saving around 371 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. The customer is utilizing approximately 75% of the generated electricity. The payback time at roughly four years is very attractive.

    The construction period happened in a very short time, despite the challenges posed by external factors such as the Corona crisis. Nevertheless, the entire project was realized within two months. In order to minimize any downtime that could have lead to an impairment of the customer’s ongoing operations, the team had to lift the necessary PV components by using a helicopter. These activities were carried out efficiently in only two hours.

  • Mercedes-Benz Italy

    BayWa r.e. has been delivering a solar PV roof-top installation with a power of 500 kWp for a logistics center of the car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Italy.

    With a payback period of just four years, the new PV installation can generate up to 500 kWp and will allow to reduce almost 300 tonnes of CO2 emissions. However, this energy solution not only reduces the location’s carbon emissions, but also supplies around 40% of the logistics centre’s energy demand. This has meant a significant reduction in corporate energy costs of around 35% per year.  

    Our Energy Solutions team also took Mercedes-Benz Italia through the sometimes complex grid connection process, meaning the projected was completed and up-and-running more quickly than Mercedes Italia had originally planned. We worked closely with Mercedes-Benz Italia’s team to understand the particular requirements of the site and to make sure these were correctly reflected in the final roof-top scheme. Our expertise was used to help Mercedes-Benz Italia to develop and fine tune their own design, helping to ensure it dovetailed perfectly with the logistics centre’s conditions and operating processes. 

    The use of our own novotegra South II mounting system, as it is perfectly tailored for south facing buildings with flat roofs, was also recommended by the team. Once completed, the project comprised of just under 1,400 panels. 

    With a team of specialized service technicians, BayWa r.e. also provided inspection and maintenance services that were precisely tailored to the special conditions and production process on site.

  • Tetra Pak

    With the installation of a large photovoltaic system on the roof-top of Tetra Pak’s production site in Rubiera, BayWa r.e. is supporting the multinational company in getting closer to its sustainability goals.

    In total, an area of over 4,200 square metres are covered by the photovoltaic modules. This allows an installed capacity of 846 kWp, which can guarantees the system a high level of self-consumption. Consequently, a total of 980,000 kWh/year of green energy will be produced, which will avoiding the production of around 580 tonnes of CO2.

    During constructionthe activities, BayWa r.e. had to managed and solved several critical operational issues, mainly related to logistical aspects such as the height of the buildings or the presence of the canopy along the perimeter. A large focus had to be set with regards to avoiding downtimes for the centre’s operations., as well as the need to cause as little disruption as possible to the activities of the production centre.

    These critical factors led to the use application of large crane trucks and the decision to install the tower only when staff was off.  on public holidays. Despite these difficultieschallenges, the project was completed in a remarkably recordshort time, with the installation of the system taking just 70 days.

  • Vitesco

    BayWa r.e. has been signing their first long-term on-site Power Purchase Agreement PPA for a solar carport in Italy with Vitesco Technologies.

    With a duration of 20 years, this contract is the longest PPA in conjunction with a  new PV plant closed in in Italy. Based on a business model of self-consumption with supply of excess energy into the grid and a fixed price, BayWa r.e.  initially supported the client in form of a preliminary feasibility analysis of the project. 

    The project unfolds as solar carport with a total installed nominal capacity of 805.98 kWp, built around a PPA contract and a public tariff (“Decreto FER1”) securing long-term cash-flows over a 20-year period for the PV Plantplant. The client is able to count on a very high rate of self-consumption with supply of excess energy into the grid at a fixed price, serving as an energy price hedge and providing planning security for the company.
