The advantages of floating PV systems
Floating PV technology allows for the creation of solar systems without using any land. The presence of PV modules helps reduce evaporation in areas where water is scarce by providing shade and cover. Furthermore, the installation of floating PV systems requires less time for site preparation and construction compared to ground-mounted PV.
At BayWa r.e., we develop and build floating PV systems, which are generally installed in disused quarry ponds, hydroelectric dams, mining lakes or drinking water reservoirs.
We build our floating system based on the highest quality components and specialized expertise. Since we commissioned our first pilot floating PV system in the Netherlands in 2018, we have installed floating systems with a total capacity of about 300 MWp.
