Milan, 12 December 2025BayWa r.e., an international renewable energy project developer, has announced the sale of its first solar power plant to Alperia, a South Tyrolean multi-utility company. Located in the municipality of Cerrione (BI) on land owned by Aeroporto Cerrione S.r.l., the plant was constructed using state-of-the-art techniques to ensure efficiency and sustainability. The transaction was finalised on Thursday, 11 December with the signing of a sales agreement.

The photovoltaic park was inaugurated and completed in September 2023 and is already operational, representing an important milestone in the energy transition. The 6.5 MW plant is equipped with panels installed on trackers — structures that follow the sun's position to maximise energy production.

Thanks to its capacity, the plant is able to generate enough energy to meet the needs of around 4,000 households, with an estimated annual production of 8,450 MWh and CO₂ savings of around 3,380 tonnes per year. This will contribute significantly to the area's sustainability.

BayWa r.e. is pleased to have sold the plant to a company that shares its commitment to constructive dialogue with the local community. From the outset, BayWa r.e. has collaborated closely with the municipality to carry out projects that would have a positive impact on the area's sustainability and contribute to its energy transition. BayWa r.e. has also collaborated with the local community since the development phase of the plant, organising educational initiatives for students. These initiatives are highly significant in raising public awareness of environmental issues.

Alessandra Toschi, BayWa r.e. Progetti's Managing Director, said, BayWa r.e. has been involved in all phases of the Cerrione plant's development and construction as part of a constructive relationship with the local community that has welcomed us. These new renewable energy plants are a vital part of our strategy to make a substantial contribution to the energy transition.”

"This acquisition represents a concrete step towards diversifying our energy production, with a continued focus on renewable sources. After hydroelectric and wind power, photovoltaics are a key part of our commitment to the energy transition,” said Luis Amort, Alperia's CEO.
